ACCOMMODATION
Our base close to the East Coast offers unique opportunities for longer snowmobile trips with higher comfort level. The cabin's location means that you can reach the famous East Coast before the larger commercial groups arrive, and experience it all by yourself. Join us on our organised overnight Snowmobile Wildlife Safaries or contact us for tailor-made expeditions . Either or it is a good starting point for experiencing larger parts of Svalbard.
About the location
The cabin is located far off the beaten track, away from mobile coverage, yet strategically very close to the East Coast of Svalbard where you can visit large glacier fronts and there is the highest likelihood of seeing wildlife. These overnight trips are reserved for those who are willing to take the extra step out into the wilderness and accept a simpler lifestyle for a few days. You will be rewarded with a very unique experience and a deeper understanding of the Arctic silence people are talking about. The only other way to experience this is by sleeping in a tent as there are no other commercial cabins in this area.
At the beginning of the sunny winter, the light begins to take over again after the dark season, and from April the midnight sun is back. This way you can make use of the long days to experience even more. During March the nights are still dark and with no light pollution for many miles it is a perfect spot to, if you are lucky, observe the Northers Lights.
About the cabin
The cabin can be compared to a typical “Trapper cabin” that can be found scattered around Spitsbergen and which has been used by hunters and trappers for generations.
As in many of those cabins, you will live closely together in one large room, but at the same time you will have everything you need. The cabin has a stove that keeps you warm, and during night the cabin will be turned into a large sleeping room with mattresses covered with sheepskin. Tucked in warm sleeping bags we can promise a good night sleep. During the daytime the cabin is transformed into a living room and the guide will prepare hearty breakfasts and dinners. The meals are served with everyone around the table while you plan the day's excursions or reminisce about the day and the impressions that you have had.
The cabin is mobile, which means that it will be removed before the snow melts and it will therefore not be of disturbance for the vulnerable vegetation that grows during the summer months.
