3 days Wildlife winter camp - Hike with snowshoes and overnight in tent

If you have a strong passion for nature as well as for the Arctic, surely you will want to try to immerse yourself completely in Svalbard, without distractions “Only by immersing completely will you be able to hear his voice” everything will be amplified: time, emotions and the sense of adventure.

Three days seem few, but they are not if you go in close contact with the Arctic in the truest way: camping in an area completely wild and away from snowmobile traffic.

There are many things to learn: how to mount a tent, guard the bear, manage the cold and the weather. We will have the opportunity to fully adapt to the weather and what nature offers us .... there are various peaks in the surrounding area and things to see, every day we decide together where to go. In case of storm or bad weather we will have the opportunity to find shelter exploring an ice cave.

We will camp in a scooter free area between the wonderful peaks. No scooter traffic will interrupt our sense of quietness, eventually we will see dog sledges passing by.

You will see what means to camp in the arctic and in polar bear terrain! Everyone participating will take part in keeping polar bear watch during the nights in shifts to keep the camp safe.

The guide will of course guide you through all expedition. You don't need special skills apart the will to be out in the nature, we will move with snow shoes or spikes depending on the condition. Level 3-4.

We will adapt the day and the route to the weather and snow conditions, but you find following the planned schedule:

Day 1:

At 09:00 you will be picked up by the guide at your choice of accommodation. During the morning, you have the opportunity to get acquainted with the other participants and to make sure you brought the necessary equipment. The guide will brief you on the plan of the next 3 days and give you an updated weather forecast. We will pack and prepare the pulkas before we end the meeting. Those who have a need to supplement their equipment will have time to do so.
We will have lunch together in our storage and after lunch we will start our adventure, reaching the camp site. All together we install the camp, all camp facilities and establish all routines. It is time for dinner.

Day 2

After breakfast we discuss where to go according to weather and avalanche condition. We have many opportunities around our camp site - Rounds trips over glaciers or up to the tops of the mountains. You can both enjoying the arctic scenery and feel what it means to be out in the arctic nature. In case of bad weather, we have the possibility to explore an ice cave.

In April - The day is long, and the night never really comes.

Day 3:

After breakfast we pack down the camp, pack our pulka and head back towards town. On the way, we will reach a peak or plan a different way go back home.

We plan to be back in town around 16:00.
