Ski & Sail på Svalbard
Skiing without compromises. Untouched snow, alone deep in the wilderness. When we sat down planning the trip we wanted to offer you the best possible skiing experience, and we are highly satisfied with the results – there is no other place we’d rather go. Sailing by boat, we have the possibility to go exactly where the best skiing conditions are every day. This is the trip for you who love great skiing, beautiful surroundings, and the adventure of finding it!
The guides are all locals with a passion for Svalbard skiing, and Isfjorden is their speciality. All tours will be planned according to where we get the best conditions for skiing in the big area of Isfjorden. Sun is up all day and night and we don’t have any competition for the slopes, so we ski when it fits us best. Together with the guide, we set the plan for the best possible skiing depending on weather and snow conditions.
The length of a ski day will vary depending on the wishes of the group – some days we might go back for lunch on the boat, some days we bring lunch with us for a longer route. Back on the boat we can relax with hot and cold drinks, dinner and start to plan the next adventure.
General information: Be aware that the length per day, the trip and the activities may change due to weather conditions and the composition of the group. We ski on slopes less than 30 degrees of angle on layered snow and might consider steeper slopes on spring snow.
Demands of participants: You need experience in downhill skiing and mountain hiking, however you do not need to be an expert – downhill skiing is not about breaking records! We will chose our routes from the will of the participants, and choose difficulty level according to the experience of the participants. The tour is medium demanding and the participants should not have any knee problems.
