The Mushers holiday (dogs, birds and hiking)
Did you ever wonder what a musher (a dog driver) is doing on their free time?
Now you get the chance to experience a musher’s holiday and join us for a fun and relaxing day full of different experiences!
As an ecotourism company we not only have strong beliefs about our duty to protect the environment, but we also like to share our view about living a simpler life and reducing the stress of the modern way of living and therefore gaining not only more life quality, but also more joy and happiness altogether.
You will be picked up by your guide at your accommodation and drive to the dog yard where depending on the weather you can get equipped with outer layers like overalls and boots.
Together we choose our teams, get them harnessed and put them on the line in front of our troll carts.
As soon as the last dog is in place, we are ready to go.
2 guests are driving together on each troll cart (1 driver and 1 passenger) and you can each drive half the way or switch places along the way just as you like.
With our dog-teams we will be cruising along the coastline, stopping for water at the rivers and taking photo stops at interesting places.
When we reach our destination, we park the dogs, get them well secured and then we can take a nature walk to the bird cliff and have time to explore the Fauna and Flora of the Arctic Tundra.
After our little hike, we get the dogs ready and drive back home to Adventdalen where after a final cuddle, we return the dogs to their respective cages and give them their well-deserved dinner.
In the months between May and August, there is a big Eider duck colony nesting around our kennel.
It is always fun to watch their behavior and listen to their never-ending chattering.
If you have younger children, you can contact us via e-mail and we can see if there is a possibility.
In case that you prefer to drive the whole trip by yourself, you can send us a request. There will be an additional charge of 500 NOK for a single driver.
This trip is not suitable for people with health issues, poor balance or back problems.
If you are unsure, please ask us for advice before booking.
We reserve the right to change the trip in case of unsuitable weather conditions. We of course are doing our best to make the trip still special for you.
